2001 News Clubhouse Flagpole Dedication The ceremony
coordinated by Marty Fullam included the raising of the flag by veterans
Michael Reiche and Joseph Loiacono. Also present were honor guards from
Brownie Troop 1217 and Boy Scout Troop 244 of Sound Beach. The Sound Beach Property Owner's Association is honored to have this flagpole in memory of Mr. Harff whose service to our nation will not be forgotten. Clubhouse Roof Replacement Completed! Five Windows Also Replaced On Saturday March 31, 2001 a hearty group of members and volunteers began the laborious task of re-roofing our clubhouse. Working tirelessly from 6:30 AM until well after dark on Saturday and Sunday, April 1, they removed the old roof, clearing the debris and installing the new roof . Additional work at the same time included the installation of 5 insulated replacement windows in the main hall area of the building. At times, they battled the elements; a rain and sleet shower and temperatures in the mid-thirties to high forties to complete their mission. Kim Picciotti, Margeaux Ringwald, Eileen Cantwell, Robin Redman, and Sissy Lane contributed in the kitchen as well as in the field to make sure the crew was well fed throughout the weekend. This work would never have been done without the generous contribution of talent and skill by the craftsman involved. The Sound Beach Property Owner's Association would like to thank you all:
We would also like to give a huge thanks to all of the local businesses that provided materials! Easement Problems As our members well know, in recent years our access stairs have been damaged or destroyed during storms. Most of the time this damage was caused by the failure or eroding of the town easement areas at the east and west beach. Currently, the two easements are showing signs of disrepair. Our association has formed a committee to work with the town in a more proactive approach to correct these problems before they become disasters that threaten our beaches. The newly appointed superintendant of highways, Patricia Strebel has made herself available to us to find a solution to our concerns regarding a more permanent fix for the easement situation. Stay tuned to this site for updates regarding our progress. Additional News |
